Bro Jamie & Cheryl Baker
We are Back! Incase you did not know, this is our second time at Deer Creek. We started our ministry back in 2001 when I answered God's Call to Preach. I did a lot of supply preaching during that year and that brought us to Deer Creek for a couple months of supply preaching. During that time the Pastor Search Committee and I both felt we were being led to settle at Deer Creek. After serving for going on five years God provided an opportunity for us to move to Memphis and go to
Mid-America Theological Baptist Seminary. While in Memphis we both attended MABTS, I worked on an ADiv and then completed my BSOCL (Bachelor of Science in Organized Church Leadership) at Union University in Jackson TN. Also while in Memphis we served in various areas of leadership at Bellevue Baptist Church. We co-taught in the Young Adult Ministry as well as taught and held Leadership positions in the Young Adult Singles Department. Also while at Bellevue we had the privilege to be part of the Launch Team that started an intercity campus in the Frayser Community of Memphis. We taught classes and served as the AV Team Leads for this Satellite Campus of Bellevue Baptist Church. Cheryl served on staff as the Campus Coordinator of the Frayser Campus and later served as the Security Department Admin. We had been praying that if it was God's will he would provide an opportunity for us to move back to Western Kentucky so we could get back closer to Family. In late fall of 2021 God did just that with Cheryl getting an offer to come and work for Fredonia Valley Bank. My employer agreed to allow me to go remote so they could retain me. So we began making plans for our move back to Fredonia. Once we had moved back the pastor search committee asked if we would consider meeting with them. We never dreamed God would give us the opportunity to not only move back to Fredonia much less allow us to come back to Deer Creek. We are so excited to get to serve the people we love so much and took a chance on a young couple many years ago that had no idea how to lead a church. We all have grown up and now we are so excited to share some of what God taught us while we were in the "far away land" with the Church that we love so much. May our service at Deer Creek continue for many years to come.... |
